Part 2: Lili Alessandra Bedroom Makeover - The Design Consultation
Now it’s time for the fun to really begin! If you’ve been following along with my blog then you have started a fabulous bedroom makeover journey with me for blogger maven, Tori Johnson, from The sTORIbook (to read Part 1 of this series click here).
With the initial stages of reviewing the space and discussing Tori’s inspiration it was time to begin the design collaboration back at the Lili Alessandra flagship store.
THE INSPIRATION:
As I mentioned in my previous post, Tori envisioned a room that would effortlessly combine both she and her husband’s tastes. She had discovered a black and white photo of the PRADA art installation in Marfa, Texas and felt that it embodied the couple – Tori with her love of fashion and her husband’s Texas ranching roots. We utilized that as the starting point of the design direction and inspiration.
We began by creating a design board showcasing pieces that Tori wanted to bring back into the room (such as a favorite mercury glass lamp) and other decorative items that she was drawn to.
THE COLOR PALETTE:
We then moved on to discussing the color palette. Tori knew that she wanted to keep the room light and expressed the need for it to double as a space for her blog photography. Additionally, she wanted the room to be functional as she has two young children.
With the bed being the focal point of the room we began to lay out Lili Alessandra fabric swatches for Tori to compare with her design board and explore different texture elements.
After little deliberation, Tori was immediately drawn to the silver fabrics within the Lili Alessandra collection. Specifically, the Moderne collection with its modern design and luxe sheen. Silver is an excellent choice as it is very on-trend and will transition well throughout a lifetime. I also included two matching Euro Shams and two of the Standard pillows as well to fill the king size bed.
THE FABRICS:
As she was selecting a more glam look - Tori was concerned about the bed getting too formal for her husband’s preferences and wanted to include some more organic fabrics. To achieve this I paired the Moderne with the Emily Diamond Quilt in White Linen along with two matching Luxe Euro pillows. The white gave a bold contrast against the silver velvet creating a bed design that was stylish while still maintaining a grounded and clean look. Additionally, this combination was versatile as she could transition to an all-white bed in the future or change the look with different decorative pillows.
THE FINISHING TOUCHES:
To add some additional romance to the bed I paired the bedding with the Emily Gathered Bed Skirt which is made as 3 individual gathered bed skirt that can be tucked in between the box spring and the mattress. Making it much easier to install.
Lastly, I incorporated Tori’s favorite Lili Alessandra design – the Ellie decorative pillow in Ivory velvet with ivory ribbon and beads – which was the final touch to this Pinterest-worthy bed.
With the completion of the bed design - Tori was eager to begin the excitement of the Lili Alessandra bedroom installation which was still to include a big furniture surprise!
