Part 1: Lili Alessandra Bedroom Makeover - The Before
When my blogger friend, Tori Johnson, from The sTORIbook came to Lili Alessandra asking me to assist her with a makeover of her master bedroom my design team and I were elated! We are passionate about doing makeovers and having the opportunity to assist a client from start to finish.
Tori was looking to transform her space into a fashionable yet organic oasis. She presented the challenge to me of finding a way to merge both she and her husband’s styles which distinctly varied. Her husband preferred a more traditional and masculine style while she was more contemporary and feminine.
With an impactful furniture change, a repurposing of décor, some strategic purchases and the Lili Alessandra touch – the room was transformed into a stylish and inspiring retreat. THE SPACE:
The bedroom had “good bones” as I like to say in the design world. Tori had just put in a new hardwood floor and repainted the walls from a dark grey to an off-white which really brightened the room. My biggest challenge was the footprint of the room was fairly small and the furniture was not proportionate to the room.
As you can see in the above picture, the large four-poster bed encompassed most of the room. I asked Tori if she would consider something different for the headboard and she answered with a resounding, “YES!”
For the floor, Tori selected a European Oak which has been growing in popularity in recent years. It is made of a strong wood with a large grain and the color is a light oak shade. It’s an excellent choice for families with children as it’s easy to care for and maintain.
The wall paint she previously had in her room was a dark grey which made the space look much smaller. She repainted the walls in Benjamin Moore’s “White Dove” to open the room up.
THE BEDDING:
Tori and I then turned to the bedding (my favorite part). Tori expressed loving an all-white bed but was looking to really make her bed the statement piece of the room. Be sure and read my next post as I delve more in to the designing of the bed.
THE WINDOWS:
The bedroom also featured a lovely set of bay windows which allowed a nice amount of light in to the room. Currently, she didn’t have window treatments and we discussed adding some of Lili Alessandra’s curtains to really finish off the space.
